NOTES: Malachai will keep his more passive abilities, such as his above average toughness and durability. His shapeshifting, shadow manipulation, illusory and hallucination abilities can be requested via activity rewards.
** As of the start of MAY, Malachai has recovered his alternate form ability- a massive bipedal bear/wolf like creature with freakishly oversized, clawed hands, glowing eyes, and the ability to stick to walls and ceilings.

Appearance: When he wants to appear human, Malachai looks like a young man of around twenty, with curly brown hair and dark eyes, average height and average build. During the day, he likes to wear a heavy jacket and hat to avoid direct light, and will often cloud his face with shadows or appear as a living black outline against the wall to unsettle people. Lurking is one of his favorite pastimes.
Mal also has a "bugbear" form, which is a shadowy, misshapen wolf-headed creature with oversized teeth, glowing eyes, and strangely long limbs.
Abilities:
* Normal strength, but tougher and more durable than human, particularly in darkness/shadow form
* Shadow Mastery- can transform into shadowy form, levitate, pass through walls and teleport short distances through shadowy spaces.
* Hallucinations/Night Terrors - Can cause nightmares, disturbing visions, and illusions in the dark, and has limited ability to affect dreams in general.
- Is forced incorporeal and powerless in direct sunlight, but has an amulet to let him function- grouchily- in the daytime.
History: Malachai is the esteemed family curse of a wealthy, well-established bloodline, the random punishment for some long-ago sin. For a long time, the curse was dormant, nearly forgotten, until Mal was born a bouncing baby nightmare, a weird child with black eyes who screamed uncontrollably at the touch of sunlight.
So his parents did the perfectly reasonable thing for any upscale, high society family to do with an aberration: they kept him shut up in the attic of the family manor. Malachai grew up in luxurious isolation with his "rare medical condition", tutored by carefully selected private tutors and given expensive distractions to make up for the fact that he was seldom allowed to leave his apartment.
Little Mal wasn't nearly bothered as everyone else by these things, but he grew up exactly as strange as expected under these circumstances.
As he reached adulthood, Malachai started getting bored and restless to the point where he began aggressively haunting his own house. The bleeding walls, screaming in the halls, and plagues of insects quickly made the house unlivable for everyone. Mal was loved and pampered, but he was still a very frustrated young man, and his powers responded to his mental state.
His parents, unsure what else to do with their son and his incredibly disturbing abilities, sent him away in the hopes of finding some peace for the house and some way for their son to have a life beyond that of a shut-in.
Anything else:
- Mal can go out in the daylight, but he hates it so he will ditch the classes he already knows, like math, to hang out in dark places instead.
- Don't touch his hat.
